125 million people play Fortnite a month.  Players spend countless hours and money on this one game. Fortnite is a big part of people’s lives, especially at Morgan. Students played for hours and hours in the summer. and are now trying to balance school with Fortnite. Junior Kyle BaRoss would wake up at 8am to play Fortnite in the summer.  He would then play till noon and then would play again from 6pm to midnight. With school now, Kyle tries to fit in as much playing time as he can, “I’m going to wake up early to get my hours in, but I won’t be able to play as much as I want to.”

Junior Michael Zingerella stated he played about 6-7 hours a day, but now with school, he said he’ll only be playing for about an hour at night. People spend so much time on Fortnite as they see it as a way to connect with friends and make new ones. Senior Garret Johnson said, “Even though I’m not good at the game, it’s still fun to play with my friends.”

Other students like the strategy involved with the game and Freshmen Drew Nye said he likes the colors and graphics the game displays. The obsession with the game has also reached into the pockets of students, as many have spent large amounts of money on the game. Sophomore Elmir Gutic said he has spent at least $130 on the game, while Freshman Charlies Hanscome said that he has spent at least $200.

Students at The Morgan School all agree that they will continue playing Fortnite on a daily basis even if it means waking up earlier or going to sleep later in order to get their hours in. It will be interesting to see how this ¨addiction¨ affects students grades throughout the school year.
