Our spirit here at Morgan changed drastically from the time ISS officer Trevor Brown graduated from The Morgan School in 1993. As Mr. Brown said,“The student body is more together.” Our spirit within the school includes everyone, has evolved, and shows compassion to everyone. Since graduating, Mr. Brown is “glad to be back and help” while making the point he will “always be a Husky”.
Mr. Brown works in the building as an ISS officer (In School Suspension) and as the school’s baseball coach. He previously worked the ISS job at North Branford High School, but enjoys the atmosphere and believes there is “a lot of comradery” after transferring to Morgan. Making this his second year as the baseball coach and first year in ISS in Morgan, the commute to work is more efficient. Making this year his second working in the district, his commute to work is more efficient.
Assistant Principal Christopher Luther emphasizes that students are in ISS for their benefit, in order to hopefully “change behavior”. By law, In School Suspension is used in the school system resulting from a classroom disruption. Mr. Luther works with staff to ensure those who are in ISS have a support system throughout the day and school year. A student in ISS is given the same work from their teacher, but completes it in a separate room, while Mr. Brown keeps track of the completed work.
Together, Mr. Luther and Mr. Brown, work to create the best system for a student placed in ISS. Each action receives a consequence of ISS (in school suspension), OSS (outside of school suspension), or detention is the result.
Mr. Brown is excited for the baseball season to begin. As a member of the Morgan faculty, he feels closer to his players.
