“I’ve seen his posts in the past about the album, and the posts had me waiting,” said Matteo Maldonado, who is both a freshman at the Morgan School and an avid Drake fan.
With almost 200 billion streams across all platforms, Drake has finally announced that he will be releasing a new album, “IceMan”, on May 15, leaving students excited.
Known for turning album drops into big moments, Drake is once again getting people’s attention–this time with something unexpected: 3,500 ice blocks stacked together on 81 Bond Street, in Toronto, Canada, tied directly to the album.

“The ice out in the streets was really creative,” said Zhen Wu, both a sophomore at the Morgan School and a Drake fan. “It generated hype because normal people who aren’t really tapped into music, they’re gonna walk past it [the ice], and then they’re gonna be like ‘Who put that there?’.. whereas a person who’s tapped into music more will be like, ‘Wow, that’s pretty interesting that Drake did that’,” said Wu.
This idea sparked excitement across social media, with thousands of fans posting about the ice sculpture and sharing it with viewers. Many fans are wondering, “What will this album sound like?” Drake has been teasing about this album since July 2025.
Drake has produced 25 studio albums, with “IceMan” soon to become his 26th. He has posted about this album on his Instagram and other social media accounts. No other artist has made albums about ice, but there are artists with “ice” in their name.
Since February 14, 2006, Drake has released 25 studio albums, collaborating with A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Rihanna, and more. His first major studio album, “Thank Me Later,” was released on June 15, 2010. This was also around the time he started becoming famous.
Drake has also appeared in movies like Ice Age and one show, Degrassi: The Next Generation, between 2001 and 2006. After starring on that show, he started his music career. He has worked with many brands, including Nike (NOCTA), OVO (October’s Very Own, his own brand), and Air Jordan, and is a global ambassador for the Toronto Raptors NBA team.

He is also the first rapper in 2026 to reach 6 billion streams on Spotify, which he achieved on April 25, 2026. Throughout his whole music career, he has reached almost 200 billion streams, with “Views” being his most-streamed album.

“Views is a great album, not his best though. It was the first one that I listened to that got me into Drake,” said Maldonado. Some songs have been teased, like “Which One” featuring London rapper Central Cee, “What Did I Miss?“, “Dog House”, “National Treasure”, “Supermax”, and “Stuck”. Some sources speculate that there could be another track on there called “ICEMAN FREESTYLE.”
Fans on social media have captured Drake on the bed of a semi-truck driving through Toronto, Canada, filming music videos for tracks on the album. Drake was also seen driving a box truck with the word “IceMan” printed on the sides. “I’ve seen the posts about him filming on the truck, and it makes me wonder what songs he’s been filming for,” said Maldonado.
One thing that is most common with these posts is that when Drake sees his fans on the side of the street, he pauses the music. This could be because he doesn’t want to “leak” any of the tracks on the album. Overall, everyone should be excited for this album because it’s been delayed, teased, and waited on for over 9 months, since the first post.
