The Intro to Communications class has been run by long-term substitute Robert Walling since the beginning of the school year. This class, for grades 9-12, is a prerequisite for Graphic Design, Digital Imaging, and Video Production.
Students learn the details of Photoshop “by incorporating an image with editing” and “converting images as well as editing images,” said Senior Gabbie Franco.
Mr. Walling, covers the class for Technology Education Teacher, Theodore Enoch. Mr. Walling expressed how much the teacher and kids are “bent over backwards to help me out” and how much of a “positive vibe” the students show every day.
Originally, Mr. Walling was a substitute in Rocky Hill, but the position was gone by the end of last year. Fortunately, he was able to find a substitute position at Morgan, where the students make work feel like home. Mr. Walling worked in Bristol as a Social Studies and Tech Ed teacher before becoming a substitute, so he is well qualified for his current position.
Sophomore Avery Vece said the Intro to Communications class helped with digital images. She learned how to create images on top of others. Similarly, Senior Molly Vitola felt she was able to learn skills that would be helpful in the future and stated there was “a lot of independence in the class.” Both Avery and Molly learned Photoshop and other skills they weren’t exposed to before enrolling in Intro to Communications.
