Last Thursday, November 30, from 5:30 to 7:30, the World Language Department Multicultural Night was held in the Lower Hub where people could learn about different cultures found in Morgan.
At the Multicultural Night there were many activities to do such as painting, playing board games, and singing karaoke. Attendees could also go to one of the stalls where Morgan parent Gurmeet Singh would write their name in Punjabi.
Participants were able to enjoy trying food from a variety of different cultures. They could find Colombian empanadas, buñuelos and bread, Mexican Nachos and Flautas, Chicken, Ecuadorian Food and Pizza.
Sophomore Maria Lopez, who was a participant in the dance held by the Spanish club, commented that one of her favorite parts was being able to try the delicious food that was at the event such as the empanadas, flautas and desserts.
Freshman Brithany Herrera, who was a participant in the Ecuadorian dance, commented that she also really liked the empanadas and the food that tasted very good.
The Multicultural Night included the participation of two dances. The first dance was the Spanish Club dance, a dance that was choreographed and practiced by the members of the club during the three weeks prior to the Multicultural Night.
And the second dance was that of a traditional Ecuadorian group that was representing the typical dances in the Amazon.
World Language Department chair Laura Luther hopes to make this a tradition in Morgan.
