Morgan Students on Spring Break

Written by Julia Hornyak |

What do Morgan students do when they are not in school and on break? We know that Spanish teacher Mrs. Luther will be accompanying her Spanish class to Costa Rica, but what about the rest of the school who will sadly be stuck home in Clinton? We decided to send out a survey to the whole school to see what everyone will be doing. Out of 78 responses this is what we found. (some responses included more than one answer)

Baseball 26The baseball team is going to Florida as well as eight other people from Morgan. One of these is going to see a NHL playoff game. Eighteen people will be spending time with family and friends. One group of friends is creating an itinerary for the week that consists of hiking, camping, bike rides, fishing, cookouts and more regardless of the weather.

Twelve people from the survey reported they are going to Costa Rica, but there are many more students than just twelve. Ten people said they will be working more hours since they have more free time. Ten other people said they will be relaxing since they will finally have a break from all the school work especially juniors who will be done with junior portfolio the same day break begins. The same number of people said they will be catching up on sleep.

College KnowledgeSix people will be going on college visits. Two of the six will be visiting colleges in  North Carolina and Virginia. Six other people said they will be doing nothing, while one person was very vague and just said “stuff.” Four people shared how that they will be practicing for sports and playing games during break. Three others reported that they will be going to places such as NYC, Boston, and Virginia Beach.

Three people will be working out at the gym, while two others will be attending a Bernie Sanders rally in NYC. Two people will be going to Six Flags. One poor person will be recovering from surgery all week. One other person will look for prom dresses since the date for prom is coming up fast.

Besides having fun, students explained how they will be studying for AP exams, doing homework if any, reading, studying the driver’s manual for their license tests, and filling out scholarships.

Whatever it is that you may be doing, make sure you stay safe, have fun, and enjoy your week off from school. Seniors, enjoy your last break as high school students and make sure to spend time with friends and family because in a matter of months, you will all be going your separate ways. As for juniors, use break to celebrate your accomplishment of completing junior portfolio. You deserve it! As for everyone else, make the best of your break. School is almost over, and summer will be here before you know it!
