Imagine you’re standing there clueless, many different club options to choose from, sitting on a Google form, but out of the corner of your eye, you spot it: D&D Club. You may wonder, “Well, what is the D&D club? What’s it about? What does it stand for?” That’s hopefully what this article is about to explain.
D&D stands for Dungeons and Dragons, it’s a mostly role-playing, adventure board game that you can create your own storyline to play, and it’s able to be played with a lot of people. The club meets on Fridays after school in the Collab Room or Learning Commons. During those meetings, everyone is split into 2 groups, each one doing their own role-play campaign, then the “Dungeon Master” (person who created the campaign the group is currently playing) sets up the rules and explains how it’ll go. Players will then pick a character and roll a die for different stats, such as strength or dexterity.

Nathan Ramirez-Canas, a junior here at Morgan, goes to the D&D club whenever he can. Ramirez is running his own campaign, something that can last over several club meetings. He created a Pokémon-themed campaign, where players could choose their own Pokémon starter they could play as. Players would roll for stats on their Pokémon and then start the adventure. But for Ramirez, it’s more than just a game; it’s a way to get creative and share experiences with others. “You’re able to connect with people and have fun while being able to explore a story that’s beyond actual reality,” said Ramirez.

At the club, the Dungeon Master will start the game, and players will go on with their journey. During the game, many things can happen depending on how the Dungeon Master sets up the game, for example one item a Dungeon Master can add is a “Magic Hat,” which is an item that, if played, can make the most random things happen, for example it can just summon a meteor and end your whole adventure right there.
Rylen Robertson, a senior here at Morgan, goes to the club whenever he can. “I like to go with my friends every Friday, have a lot of fun, do some nice campaigns, and relax.”
Connor Moran is a math teacher here at Morgan, but he’s also the teacher who oversees the D&D club. In fact, Moran has been overseeing it for over a year now. The club itself started when a student of Moran’s came to him with the idea for the club, and since Moran had actually played D&D before, back when he was in high school, Moran loved the idea and accepted the position. “It’s an imaginative game, you can go out and buy pre-made stuff, but most would rather come up with their own, all inspired by D&D and using dice to determine what comes next.”

Amazing article, I think this really represents what D&D is about here at Morgan. The only mistake is that Rylen Robertson is a sophomore and not a senior. Really good all around though!!!
