Dinosaurs went extinct approximately 66 million years ago, leaving behind only bones and mysteries as to how they lived and what they looked like. Scientists nowadays have been able to use new DNA and tracing technology to somewhat reconstruct what they at least looked like, while using any clues from bones or other fossils to determine how they survived. But do you ever wonder how the dinosaurs may have lived? Well, thanks to a very realistic game, you can hunt, explore, and fight other dinosaurs. Welcome to Path of Titans.
Path of Titans is a PVP (Person vs Person) and survival-based MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) game created by Alderon Games, officially released in July of 2022, Path of Titans being the game they’re best known for. The game is available on multiple platforms, including PC, Steam, PS5, Xbox, Switch, and even on your phone or iPad. The game will cost you $29.99 on all platforms, with a deluxe version available for $59.99, which will unlock more colors and skins for different dinosaurs. Even though Path of Titans has to compete with other dinosaur survival-related games like The Isle and Ark Survival Ascended, Path of Titans still holds up with mostly positive reviews from many different sources and review channels.

Once you first load into the game, you’re met with multiple options to play, ranging from single player, where you can get the feel of the game, to multiplayer, to play with others online. But the tab you’d mostly want to spend your time using is the Community Server tab. Once you choose one, you’ll be able to choose a map, with three vanilla options (vanilla meaning it was in the base game without modding) that being Panjura, Gondwa, and the newest one, Riparia.
You’ll also be greeted with the character select screen of different vanilla dinosaurs you can choose from. You can choose from either a Herbivore (dinosaurs that ate plants) or a Carnivore (dinosaurs that ate meat), examples of some being the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex, Tyrannotitan, and Argentinosaurus.

But those are just the vanilla options; if you choose the Community Server option, you’ll be greeted with a lot more. You’ll get a whole list of different servers made and run by the fanbase themselves. Once you choose a server to play on, you’ll be logged in and notice how many more options you have for dinosaurs to play as; that’s due to mods (Content that the community makes themselves that is then implemented into the game) that were also created by the community. Certain modding groups work to create new dinosaurs for servers to use and allow people to play as, some examples being the Saurophaganax, Acrocanthosaurus, and Brachiosaurus.
The servers can change the settings depending on how it works. For example, some servers are PVP-based, focusing on fighting and skills, so they’d mostly skip the growing part and only do fighting, whereas other servers focus on realism, where you can roleplay and feel like you’re actually hunting and living.
My personal opinion on the game itself is that it’s just wonderful. The graphics are insane for a not-so-popular game, the game is updated frequently, giving new TLC’s (updates) to different dinosaurs, and the fact that PoT is so inclusive of its fanbase, actively supporting all the new and amazing mods people create for the game.
Overall, it’s an amazing experience, especially if it’s your first time playing, and due to its wide accessibility, I highly recommend it.
