The Morgan Girls Lacrosse team has had a drought in players the last few years. This year, 15 freshman girls have joined the team.
Many of the freshmen girls have played together for several years on the Clinton Youth Lacrosse team. They were one of the best youth teams in the state. This group of freshman brings great potential for the future of the program.
Several freshmen played over the winter in an indoor league at Wide World of Indoor Sports in Montville, Connecticut, with other girls on the Morgan team. They got comfortable with the upperclassmen and got practice during the off season.
This 2024 season, Emma Holecz, Emma Teurner, Samantha Weinzimmer, Nora Winsor, Hernika Singh, Saoirse O’Beirn, Gwen Madura, Molly O’Donnell, Emerson Dunning, and Annabelle Parent have all had minutes on this season’s varsity team.
Annabelle Parent took on a huge role as the only goalie on this year’s team. She has played varsity goalie every game thus far.
Emma Holecz and Gwen Madura are a part of CT lax, which is a club lacrosse team here in Connecticut. This helps them play at a high level early in their high school career. Emma Holecz will also be representing Team Connecticut at the USA Lacrosse National Tournament in North Carolina this upcoming May.
The class of 2027 girls are so excited about the next four years and can not wait for the seasons to come.
