This year’s regional cupcake wars took place on Friday, April 26, 2019. Bacon Academy, Haddam Killingworth High School, Valley Regional High School and Morgan students participated. Seniors Heather Zimmerman, Katie Schremp, and junior Karen Reinso represented Morgan with their award-winning carrot cupcakes.

First place winner

Three students from Haddam Killingworth High School created the winning cupcakes. Their cupcake display was inspired by a rose theme. They added Greek yogurt to the cupcake batter to make it moister. To make the frosting, they used a mixture of lemon and rose flavoring. They were awarded with a basket filled with different baking tools and other necessities. They also received a first-place trophy.

Second place winners

Students from Bacon Academy won second place with their spring themed cupcake display. The cupcakes consisted of a vanilla cake and buttercream with lemon zest frosting. They decorated the cupcakes with edible vanilla and lavender fondant and honey drizzle. These students were awarded Dunkin Donuts gift cards.
