Morgan boys soccer is doing very well this year. With 7 wins 3 losses for JV, the boys soccer team has some very skilled players. Christopher Rapuano assistant coach of the boys soccer team said, “More freshman that came into the program were ready to play.” The top 3 goal scorers on the JV team are Freshman Zach Tuccitto, Freshman Matthew Gardner, and Sophomore Jon Hicks. The JV boys soccer team has some very strong players who entered the season with a very strong and positive attitude on the field.

Lots of the known varsity players for Morgan boys soccer graduated in 2016. The starters for varsity this year are Juan Avelia, Juan Carlos, Tyler Newfield, and Anes Gadun. Mr. Rapuano said the Varsity players go into any game “playing 100% with good results most of the time and working well as a team.” It’s good that the boys stay healthy throughout their soccer career.

Coach Rapuano reflected on the soccer season, saying, “…I am so proud of the Morgan Boys Soccer Team. Both Varsity and Junior Varsity have been a great success for the 2016-2017 season. As a team we had positive record’s and worked hard from pre-season in late August all the way to November for class S Shoreline Tournament and  State Tournament.”

Coach Rapuano used his experiences with college soccer in order to incorporate his skills with the boys soccer team. He used similar college drills and techniques to prepare the team for games. “When I was a former college soccer player at Mitchell College in New London, CT that degree of play and experience gave me a great understanding of coaching soccer the game of unity and passion.”

Coach Rapuano shares his knowledge and passion for soccer. He said “Since the season is coming to a close, I strongly advise my soccer players to work hard staying in shape with other winter and spring sports during the soccer off season.”  He suggested to the boys  join indoor soccer in the winter and sign up for soccer clinic camps in the spring to improve on talent their skills for the next season.
