On Wednesday the Morgan volleyball team players rang in the new season with their first home scrimmage against Hand of Madison. They gave it their all. Players and fans shared their excitement about the upcoming volleyball season.
Senior Alex Church described her feelings about this upcoming season, “I think it will be interesting. I want to do well. We definitely need to work at it, but we have a lot of potential.”
Volleyball Captain and Senior Alyssa Robinson said, “We have a lot of potential. I think we are going in as the underdog because of our new coach, but I think we’re going to do really well.” I also asked about the scrimmage that was taking place that night, and she replied, “I am so pumped! We had a really good practice yesterday so I am confident.”
Junior Taylor Marnett shared her experience with the new JV coach and mathematics teacher Jessica Lynch: “I haven’t been able to talk to her much, but JV seems to enjoy her as a coach and I’ve seen improvement.”
Senior and second captain Sydney Chomicz shared her feelings about that night’s scrimmage. She said, “I am very excited to play tonight because we didn’t play the best at the jamboree, so it’s a good opportunity to show Ms. Trusty what we’re made of.” She also shared her thoughts on new assistant coach Ms. Lynch: “I think she’s very sweet, and she seems to know a lot about the game, and she’s very competitive and wants us to do well.”
Senior Junior Zirkelbach provided a fan’s perspective. Her favorite part of the games was, “not knowing what history may be made if you may lose or if you may set a new record.”
Our school library media specialist Shannon Robinson mentioned that her favorite part of games was, “Watching split second decisions to make an unexpected move toward the opponent.”
As the new school year is upon us we know that means new sports games. Morgan athletics is ready to bring the heat.
