On February 1st, 2018, Morgan students attended College Knowledge Night at Morgan. It was a free program held by the Guidance Department. Students and parents were introduced and informed about the application process, the SAT the ACT, financial aid, and Naviance.
From 6:00 to 6:15 pm, students could wander around the cafeteria talking to college representatives from different colleges in Connecticut, such as CCSU. From 6:15 to 8:15, students broke up into smaller groups learning about topics such as tips for taking the SAT and the financial aid part of college. Students had the opportunity to ask any questions they had, getting a better understanding of the whole college process.
Several students shared what they thought about the night. Junior Grace Roman said, “The college essay writing lesson made me feel more confident in completing mine.” Roman feels that she, “understands more about the common app.”
Guidance Counselor Myriah Rodowicz said students, “Liked the NCAA presentation and the financial aid presentation.” She added that she would, “like to see more families come, especially underclassmen.” She also said that we had “great junior attendance.”
Junior Madison Emmi attended College Knowledge Night and said, “The assembly in the auditorium made me feel more prepared for when I apply in the future.”
The purpose of College Knowledge Night was to prepare students and families for the application process and the financial options available to them.
