Lynne DeLucia is the Pulitzer Prize winning former editor of The Hartford Courant. She is now the editor of C-Hit, Connecticut Health Investigative Team.   Lynne, along with her co-workers runs the High School Journalism camps at Yale University and the University of Connecticut. These camps show students how to find great news stories, what skills are necessary for multimedia reporting, how to perfect their writing style, and how to use public data in investigative reporting. “As long as your information is correct, stand by it” explains Lynne DeLucia. The cost of the program ranges from $900 to $1,200 with partial and full scholarships available for those interested. You can also apply for the Brett Renfrew Scholarship if you wish to follow your dreams of journalism.

The Connecticut Health Investigative Team and the Journalism Departments at both Yale and University of Connecticut help to make this possible. The Journalism camp will be at the University of Connecticut, July 20-24 and Yale University, July 26-31 and August 2-7. If you choose to apply, you will be living on one of these college campuses for 1 week, along with the other applicants. The application is due no later than June 1, 2015.

C-HIT, or the Connecticut Health Investigative Team, is made up of award winning journalists who investigate health, safety, and medical issues. They focus on the problems of real people, and their quality of care, whether it is in a hospital, nursing home, or other facility. They also investigate the care of veterans and all of their health issues.
