After being in the same school system with the same peers for almost your whole life, changing schools can be a challenging but also a fresh experience. Sophomore Nick Bradley will do just that next year, as he will be attending Choate Rosemary Hall.  I had the opportunity to interview Nick recently.  Below is the interview.

KD: What was the application process like?

NB: It was very long and asked a lot of questions about personality. I had to hand in two graded essays as well as write three 1500 word essays as a part of the application.

KD: What changes do you expect to face going into a new school?

NB: Making new friends, living away from home for an extended period of time, and keeping my grades up in the difficult classes I will be enrolled in.

KD: What do you think about the diversity of the students enrolled in the school?

NB: I think it’s great. You get to learn so much about the students, where they come from and the culture there.

KD: What would you tell people who are unsure or scared to trasnfer to a different school?

NB: When it comes down to the decision, you really have to think about what’s best for you and what’s going to give you more of an advantage in life. That’s what it boiled down to for me. It was too good an opportunity to pass up. Don’t worry what other people say. It’s your descision.

KD: Finally, how do you expect private school to differ from public school?

NB: I expect it to be mainly more challenging with more of a focus on education and learning.

Nick is also going to Choate for his atheletics. He is a wrestler and has a wrestling scholarship from Choate.  In the 2013-2014 season, he was named Adademic All American, as shown in the certificate below. The requirements for this award are a 3.4 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and a place in a state tournament at least once in your career.

Nick’s words are very true. In the end, it’s about what is best for you, not anyone else. Congratulations to Nick Bradley for being accepted into Choate Rosemary Hall!
