This year The Morgan School welcomes a new Athletic Director while Meagan Sears is out on maternity leave. Thomas Cosgriff, is from Madison, Connecticut and is currently running the Athletic department in place of Mrs. Sears during her pregnancy leave.
Cosgriff was born and raised in Madison, and is raising his family there. “I have three children, boys. Ages twenty-six, twenty-four, and seventeen – who is currently a senior at Hand right now,” Cosgriff said.

Cosgriff has a lot of experience in the athletic department. “I’ve been an athletic administrator for over 30 years, both at a college level, and high school level,” said Cosgriff.
The high school level athletic department is easier to handle considering that high schools are significantly smaller than collages.
Previously, Cosgriff was the A.D. at Westbrook High School. He claims that because Morgan is a smaller school, with smaller teams, it is a little easier to manage. Generally, the difference between the Morgan A.D., and Westbrook A.D. isn’t drastic. He typically has all of the same duties.
Cosgriff values his professional relationship with students and wants to gain trust from us by being transparent and honest.
“It’s very team oriented, very supportive. I think the students are awesome. They’ve been really fun to get to know, really good kids as well,” said Cosgriff.
His job here at Morgan is to fill in for Mrs. Sears, and do all the jobs that she would normally do, such as make sports team rosters, make schedules, and organize transportation for teams.
Cosgriff recently retired from being an athletic administrator about two years ago, and has been building a business since.
“For the past two years, I have been building a business in mental fitness and cognitive performance,” Cosgriff explained.
Gosgriff created a very interesting acronym a couple of years ago, regarding his own athletic director, called FACTS. The acronym talks about representing Morgan, and being capable of being a good teammate, or good family member.
Gosgriff’s acronym reads, “F is for family. A is for academics. C is for community. T is for together. Then the S piece, which is the most important piece, is self.”
It is basically just pointing out the steps that you can take to become a better person to yourself, and to those around you.
He is looking forward to meeting all the students here, and helping them with their athletic academic situations.
Overall, Cosgriff found a great job, with lots to look forward to this semester.
