On Wednesday, May 21st, 2025 the Morgan boy’s baseball team closed out their regular season schedule against the Daniel Hand Tigers at The Morgan School Baseball Field. The Huskies walked off with a tough loss of 2-14 against the Tigers.
The Hand Tigers got the Huskies going from the very beginning as Morgan came out to start the game a little shaky, ending the first inning 0-6.
Senior Creighton Johnson started the game on the mound for the Huskies, going two strong innings. Then sophomore Trevor Powell stepped on the mound and threw two innings, followed by sophomore Jacoby Brown stepped up and threw one inning to end the five inning game.
This season, the Huskies finished their season with a record of 13-7. No matter how hard the games were to compete due to the weather conditions when the Huskies were facing the end of their season with rain, they still performed on the mound successfully. Poor field conditions either at the Morgan mound or away mounds changed around their schedule at the end of their season by rescheduling a couple games to be pushed, such as their senior night to be changed three times.
The senior athletes have made an immense impact on this team. They each played a huge role this season in filling in the missing puzzle pieces and missing holes that need to be filled from last season. These graduating seniors have played together since the Clinton’s town league program. Their commitment to the sport has made a long way together and has made strong team chemistry.
As all four captains have been playing together since they first got the ability to throw a baseball and from that point on a lot of laughs, happiness, competitiveness have been felt all when playing around the plates. Senior captain Wyatt Luke shares that the memories he remembers from Clinton Little League stick out to him and his co-captains. One favorite memory of Luke’s was when all the seniors including himself were on separate teams and they each got to compete against each other. This sticks out to Luke because they developed as players over the years individually, and now have grown together, as a unit, over the course of four seasons.
Captains Favorite Memories:
Wyatt Luke: Catcher
Luke’s favorite memory from his high school career playing baseball was playing with all of his close friends and being able to win all together. This year and last year, winning really stood out to Luke, and being able to experience it with his teammates made it much more special. Working together made their team stronger and with everyone’s effort, winning has been a key stand out.
Micheal Ferraiolo: Designated hitter/first baseman
Ferraiolo’s favorite memory from the high school baseball team is going to the award banquets post long successful seasons. He enjoyed hanging out with teammates and seeing everyone that was given awards.
Creighton Johnson: Pitcher and first/third basemen
Johnson’s favorite memory from the high school baseball team is winning a huge game against East Catholic his sophomore year. This was a pivotal moment for him and his team because it boosted the morale.
Dom Larabee: Left outfield
Larabee’s favorite memory from playing on the high school baseball team all four years was the pasta dinners. The pasta dinners stood out to Larabee because he felt it brought the team together and made them more connected as a whole.
Season highs and lows leading up to senior night:
Highs: They currently hold the second seed in the shoreline conference. A big accomplishment for an athlete that stuck out all season, according to head coach Trevor Brown, “Creighton Johnson has played extremely well both offensively and pitching wise.” Brown explained that his pitching either starting the games or coming in for relief have been game changing and have made several impacts on games that affect their shoreline seed.
Lows: This season, there were four out-of-conference games that the Huskies competed in Guilford, Montville, West Haven and Daniel Hand. The Huskies struggled in all the out of conference games, losing each of them, but believe they learned in the process how to adapt to another pace of play outside their shoreline conference. Without the out of conference games, their record would have been 14-2.
Reflection on the season from head coach Trevor Brown:
Three season head coach, Trevor Brown, reflected proudly on how the 2025 season went. Brown emphasized on how energetic the captains were this season and how they had a strong impact on the younger classmen. The captains always included the younger players in everything such as field preparation and off the field activities, which Brown was thrilled about. The chemistry within the baseball team all starts with leadership. “The captain’s leadership has stood out, and their experience playing has made a huge impact in games throughout the season,” said Brown.
