On May 3 and 4, 2025, the annual event, The New England Taco festival, took place at The Guilford Fair and Fairgrounds. The tradition, organized by Experience the Best of Connecticut Specialty Events Company, LLC, started in 2021 and has been continuing strong ever since then.
A mother of two little boys (Ben and Liam) went to the event. “ I love to come with my kids and friends,” said Andrea Abbott. It’s the first year Abbott heard about the event. Abbot was also with her boyfriend and her friend. The kids got face paint together while the grown-ups chatted, ate, and laughed.

The taco event brings many activities and entertainment. Some of the entertainment offered was Henna tattoos, glitter tattoos, face paint, donkey riding, bouncy houses, Luchadores fights, mechanical Bull Riding and music.

“About 479 people came to the Guilford Taco Festival,” According to a poll on Facebook. 6.8K people were interested in the event. The only thing you would have to bring is money for the amazing food. Yum.
There were over 20 taco trucks (vendors) and there was a variety of tacos to select. The types of tacos sold were: Carne Asada, shrimp tacos, Barbacoa, Birria Tacos, Tacos Al Pastor, Tinga Tacos, Chorizo Tacos and tacos de Papa.

Victor Bryant, a freshman here at Morgan, has been going to The New England Taco festival for four- five years. “I’ve been going since I moved here,” said Victor. There was a competition called Lucha Libre, meaning “freestyle wrestling” in Spanish. It is a professional wrestling team in Mexico known for high-flying and colorful masks. “I think it’s worth it. There’s a lot of cool stuff there, like wrestling. A lot of merchandise shops, and a lot of food trucks,” recalled Victor.

The New England Taco festival was posted on Facebook and signs were placed around Guilford informing people about the event taking place. People were seen having fun, laughing, and eating. The culture was amazing. There were Mexican Carnival games and rides, tons of shopping with special Mexican Gifts. People showed up in Mexican clothing or just dressed up nice. On May 3, Saturday, 479 people went. Many people came to have a great time, others went to start the celebration of CINCO DE MAYO.
