Over the last two weeks, our Morgan track and field team has made a statement across two major meets, dominating in certain events like the 2 and 1 mile and in our boys and girls 4×1 relay teams, as well as setting over 20 personal records across the team.
Most recently the team attended the Running of the Rams invitational meet held last Saturday, where athletes were only allowed to participate in a maximum of two events. The highlight from this meet goes to Junior captain Addy Reed for her accomplishments in both the mile and 2-mile races.
On the girl’s end, Addy Reed was seeded first for both the one-mile and two-mile for the first time going into the meet and left the meet with both first-place medals by the end of it.
“Going into the race, even though I was seeded first, I knew it was going to be a hard race with over 30 girls running. I knew that I wanted to win, and I just wanted to put everything I had into that.”

The girl’s 4x100m relay team which consisted of Olivia Ruotolo, Demi Rehberg, Destiny Rehberg, and Bella Santello earned a medal with a 4th-place finish.
There were also several new personal records set. Bella Santello achieved a personal best in the 200m with a time of 27.35 seconds, finishing 3rd and earning a medal. Senior captain Natalie Estabrook set a new personal record in the 400m with a time of 1:11. Julia Shove, a Junior, set a personal best in the 300m hurdles with a time of 1:02.
For the boys’ team, the highlight was: captain Michael Fusco earning medals in both the 100m and 200m, finishing 4th and 5th and filling in as the anchor leg for the 4×4 team leading them to a new personal record and finishing 5th overall earning the team Medals.

Colton Landino ran his first-ever 200 meters at this meet and set a personal record with a time of 24.72 seconds. Freshman Michael Bowker delivered a strong performance in the 800m, setting a new personal record at 2:08, and also ran the 1600m, Bowker secured a 4th-place finish.
At the most recent league meet hosted by Valley High School on May 7, where athletes could compete in up to four total events, the team showed improvements across sprints, distance, and field events. The highlight from this meet is going to be from the girl’s side with them finishing in first place across a total of 6 events.
The girls 4×100 team which consisted of Olivia Ruotolo, Destiny Rehberg, Jacquelyn Ciarleglio, and Bella Santello finished in 1st and was able to set a new PR at 54.6.
Addy Reed continued to dominate in the mile race, claiming first place with a time of 5:20.9, a whole 21.3 seconds ahead of second place. Bella Santello was able to grab 1st in 100m and 1st in 200m new PR of 27.3, Olivia Ruotolo also competed in the 100m hurdles and placed first with a new personal record of 17.4, Destiny Rehberg also competed in Javelin and claimed 1st doing all that with a sliced foot.

On the boys’ side, there were still good performances all around: Michael Fusco placed 2nd in the 100m, and 4th in the long jump with a PR of 17’1.25. Michael Bowker ran another PR mile at 4:37, taking 1st. Owen followed with a new PR of 5:03 for 2nd place.
In the field, Thomas O had PRs in both shots (33’11) and discus (103’11). Senior Captain Jakober threw a javelin PR of 110’9, and Geovanny Avila followed with 87’2”.
In high jump, Colton Landino did the best jumping at a height of 5’6, Luca Strunjo hit a PR of 5’, while Mark, Aaron, and Joey tied for 4th at 5’2, Mark Rodriguez also took 1st in the long jump with a jump of 18′ 3.25″, and freshman Jay Scoppa got a new triple jump PR of 31’5”.
Looking Ahead With multiple athletes qualifying for states and shorelines and many hitting new personal bests, the momentum is strong heading into the final stretch of the season and for those who have qualified for states and the Shoreline championship.
