When Morgan’s 2023 graduate, Bella Fishman applied for her dream job at Kleinfeld, she never heard back. But a couple of weeks later, when her roommate called her and told her Kleinfeld was at the career and internship fair at her college, she rushed there as fast as she could. Without a resume in hand and wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, she talked to the internship supervisor for Kleinfeld and they loved her. The supervisor told Fishman to send a resume and give her a call. Two weeks later, she got the job.
Fishman has always been a determined leader. Over her four-year career at Morgan, she had many roles, like being part of the yearbook her senior year. At Morgan her class was able to run and plan events; she loved the creative freedom students were able to have here, saying, “The students were involved every step of the way. I really appreciated that about Morgan.”
After graduating from Morgan, Fishman knew she wanted to go to school in New York to pursue fashion. Growing up going to New York, she loved the fast pace and knew it was the perfect place to be for her career. “If you want to work in fashion, New York is the place to be in the United States to do that,” explained Fishman.
Fishman currently goes to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and is a junior working towards getting her degree and graduating. She takes classes that will help with her career, like a styling class she took freshman year. This class helped with her creativity and putting together outfits, which helped for her job at Kleinfeld.
Classes were not the only things that helped Fishman. Jobs in the past also played a role in her accomplishments. When Fishman was 16 she started working at Polo Ralph Lauren in the Clinton Outlets. “I learned so much at that job. It taught me so much about the corporate fashion world and how businesses run on so many things like customer service, technology that’s used in the retail fields, and dealing with workplace situations,” explained Fishman
After this, she tried two new jobs, a bridal assistant at The White Dress by The Shore in Clinton, and she worked at Atianas Boutique in Milford. She didn’t like working in bridal because she didn’t like the environment and she thought she had more potential with her work. And for Atianas Boutique she loved the experiences she got out of it like being invited to events.
After all the exposure she got at these high school jobs, she knew she needed a job that she could stick with as she goes through college. So when she got the internship at Kleinfeld, she was so excited.
Kleinfeld is a bridal store located in New York that is known for their large selection of designer wedding dresses. It is also known for the TLC reality show “Say Yes To The Dress” and Fishmans biggest dream was to work there. So even though she didn’t think she wanted to do bridal, she knew she had to take advantage of the opportunity. “It was the best decision I ever made, and I love it there so much,” said Fishman.
Watching “Say Yes To The Dress” with her grandmothers and aunts growing up, they adored it. So it was amazing to her and her family when she got a job working with the people she grew up watching, like the host of the show, Randy Fenoli. Fishman said, “It’s really crazy to have the people that you watch on TV growing up now be your work colleagues.”
Fishman’s biggest supporters are her family. She is a very determined person and her family is so proud of how hard she worked. Fishman’s sister, Nina Fishman, explained how happy she was for her sister, saying, “I am very proud of all she accomplished and how she chased her dreams.”
Fishman is so happy seeing how much joy her job brings her family, saying, “Seeing their reactions and how happy it makes them is really something that I take so much pride and joy out of.”
Fishman’s goal after college is to be working a job she is satisfied and happy with. Right now, she is satisfied with what she is doing and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
