The morgan boys lacrosse team started with an out-of-conference loss to Hall, losing 14-3 at home. The team struggled to score and finish through shots. The next game was against Old Lyme, 3 days later. It was a great win, where Morgan never trailed. Old Lyme couldn’t put anything on the board until the last quarter, putting in six goals, with the final score being 9-6. The Morgan boys’ defense played amazingly, shutting down their players and plays. They then lost to North Brandford away, losing 5-8 in a close game; they sadly lost a few possessions. Next was a shutout beating, Cromwell, 23-0, on Friday on April 24th, bringing the team’s record to 2-3, where they played lights out, firing on all cylinders. They also lost to Waterford away, another out-of-conference team, 2-12, where they just wernt able to finish in the net. Throughout these games, the standout players were Hunter Roth, a midfielder, Tyler Farrel, an attackman, and Jake Lichack, an attackman.
Senior captain Cole Donnelly states, “This season is the season of revenge.”

With the boys losing three talented seniors, Dylon Marshall, Nico Cimino, and Casey Corgan, they needed to find the missing pieces to glue the team back together. The team last year lost 14 out of the 17 games. Hoping the team improves this year, there has been a great increase in players, including 9 freshmen who decided to join, and there have been some standouts, such as Andrew Donnelly and who has stepped in for sophomore Dominic Cimino due to a season-ending ankle injury andrew donnely has made a great impact as a freshman having 8 ground balls and 3 assists.
Some of the main people to look out for this year are senior captain Hunter Roth, who plays midfield, and junior captain Jake Lichack, who plays attack. Lichack has 11 goals in his last 5 games and has over 5 assists, while Roth has over 10 goals and 5 assists as well. These two on the field create an unstoppable force for the opposing team’s defense.
Jake Lichack, a junior captain attack men, stated that he has “improved by going to the gym almost every day after practice, and he puts up shots after practice.” The team is improving by shooting extra reps after practice and making sure the team is bonding correctly, whether that’s going out or just putting more time on the field together.

Alex Amondola, 23 years old, has come back after playing lacrosse for Morgan for four years and committing to Nichole’s college, a D3 athletics program. He decided he wanted to come back to Morgan to help the defense as a starter with over 3 years of experience playing long pole. The defense has changed in many different ways, from not always communicating and knowing what to do, to being a huge piece of the team’s success. Amondola is just getting started, he has changed the defense by making the defense run a great system.
Mitch, a senior, says that “Amondola has taught him to play more physical and make it so he is one of the leaders on the defense.” Mitch Deming, who plays long pole, also states that the defense is playing amazingly. He said, “I think we just need to communicate as a defense more and make sure we all keep our heads on a swivel.”
