Junior Jacquelyn Ciarleglio works at the White Dress in Clinton, Connecticut. Ciarleglio loves
her job because she loves to meet new people and be as excited as they are to find their wedding dress. She has worked there since the beginning of fall 2024. When Ciarleglio goes to work, she likes to help women find their dream wedding dress.
“My job is so fun. It’s so fun to meet new people and be as excited as they are to find their wedding dress because that is one of the most meaningful moments of their lives,” said Ciarleglio.
But it isn’t all fun, some moments can be tough. For example, brides can often be indecisive. For Ciarleglio, that is the hardest part. “I would say like people struggling to find exactly what they want.”
Each day, you can find her helping to steam the dresses, organizing the paperwork, and posting on social media.
One thing she learned about through the process was the importance of the name of the dress. “If I didn’t work in this industry, I wouldn’t know all the various types of dresses and unique designs that I know now.”
Senior Mia Colon works at Len and Joe’s Fish Tale in Westbrook. She has been working there for almost two years. When Colon goes to work, she answers phone calls and cleans tables. Colon stated, “Daily, if I’m busing, I wait for people to get up from their tables, I clean off plates, take them to the back, bring out new clean dishes. I put silverware in our little silverware bags and wrap them if I’m hostessing, then I’m answering phone calls, checking people out if they’re buying T-shirts, things like that.”
But it isn’t all as fun for Mia. There are downsides. “I do come home smelling like fish a lot of the time, but it’s okay,” joked Colon.
Junior Briana Norman works at a private dance studio in Branford, CT. She has been working there for a year and a half. When Norman goes to work, she helps the little kids with stretching and getting ready to learn the dance. Norman stated, “When I first get there, we stretch and the kids color while they stretch. Then we kind of just start learning, like the dance or working on something,” said Norman.
For Norman, what she learned from this job was that she loves working with kids.
