As the boys’ Morgan lacrosse team walked off the field last spring, down 4-3 against Hall, they knew they had to make changes. After losing 3 seniors, they feel this is their year to improve.
The team will have a bounce-back season after a tough season last year. Last season, the record for the Morgan lacrosse team was 3-15, with wins over Cromwell twice and Valley once. Morgan is in Class S with opponents like Old Lyme, North Branford, and HK.
Head coach Conner Page took over the program last year. Since then, the teams’ practices have been significantly more intense. Although Paige hasn’t coached, he has played and won a state championship with Branford lacrosse. Paige owns part of a weight-lifting company called Sorinex, which has built over 100 gyms for colleges and professional sporting teams such as the Buffilo Bills, New England Patriots, and more.
Morgan is looking forward to this season and has been putting in the time to improve. Morgan had an indoor league in Montivlle every Sunday and faced teams such as Bacon Academy, Stonington,
ST Bernard, Lyme Old Lyme, and many more. morgan in indoor went 4-6 but faced much bigger schools. In addition to that, the team had to wake up at 7 and drive 40 minutes out to play. Morgan scored more than 10 points a game. Morgan is now hoping to bring this onto to the actual field to succeed this year with a positive record, bringing them to the shoreline playoffs.

One player to look for this season is midfielder Hunter Roth. Hunter Roth recently committed to play D3 at the University of Massachusetts College of liberal arts (MCLA). Roth made big strides with Conner Page. Roth stated that “coach Conner has helped me because compared to other coaches, he’s made me a physical player.” Roth feels the team is prepared to face out-of-conference teams like Hall, who he believes will be the hardest teams because they have more guys and more experience. Roth belives the team was building chemistry in the offseason Roth says” we have built chemistry with our team a lot of the guys have played Lacrosse since freshman year, and’ve played with a lot of these seniors this year for a while, so we’ve played youth, and we’ve played high school, so we’re all used to playing with each other, and we know our advantages and disadvantages”.
Aidan Brotz, a junoir varsity starter playing LSM (long stick middie) Brotz agress with roth saying Winter league up in Montville has gotten us better chemistry, we got a few games that we played up there and then everyone’s going on their off time to hit the turf and play wall ball, pass around, just do anything to get that stick in that hand. Brotz states that the winter league has helped him by allowing him to get his stick in my hand during the winter season. but also to be in close quarters and work on getting my game a lot quicker for the real season during spring.

While Amandola will be a change for the team. It will be a change for the better, The team hopes that the new assistant coach, Alex Amendeloa, will make a positive impact on the team’s chemistry and skills on the field. Coach Amendeloas success as a coach so far is exetting expectations he has ran the defense flawlessly and has made each person better weather its commucation playing better defense overall.
Alex Amendeloa hopes to bring to this team better knowledge of the game and to improve physicality overall. The new Morgan lacrosse coach, Assistant Amendeloa, is a former Morgan lacrosse player defensive long pole, committed to Nichols College, and played there for 4 years.
