The Morgan boys’ lacrosse team is hunting for a new assistant coach. Last year, Morgan had a brand new head coach, Connor Page, and an assistant coach, Jonathan Wolfer. Connor Page is a private strength and conditioning coach for athletes and helps run Sorinex Exercise Equipment, a family-owned strength training equipment company.
Jonathan Wolfer grew up on the shoreline of Connecticut, but he has also lived in New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. He is a motorcycle enthusiast, loves the outdoors, and tells stories. Wolfer is also a great writer. He has seven books published and many more to come.
Mitchell Deming says, ¨Wolfer would always push us to our limits. Even though he didn’t know much about lacrosse he did the most he could of for us. Coach Wolfer was always the loudest on the sideline and you could see he wanted to be there. ¨Although it was his first year, Coach Wolfer parted ways with the team at the end of last year’s season. He is now a stay-at-home dad focusing on his newborn son.
Last year was tough for Morgan because of the lack of leaders. The boy’s lacrosse team only had two coaches last year and 3 seniors. This brought a lot of stress to the two coaches having little lacrosse experience. Neither Coach Page nor Coach Wolfer had lacrosse experience before coaching at Morgan. This brought a lot to the seniors and some juniors. Players had to step up and lead the team with their experience over the years. It would greatly help Morgan if we gained a couple more assistant coaches. For the past couple of years, the boy’s lacrosse team had at least 3 coaches or more. This helped our team because we would be able to split up our practices into groups. For example, there would be a defensive coach, an offensive coach and a face-off coach all working their parts. This would make practice go a lot smoother and we would get a lot more done in the limited time we have.
Connor Page and the Morgan School are getting ready to start interviewing new applicants. Morgan Boys’ lacrosse is currently done indoors at Montivle Wide World Sports. The Morgan boys are having Alex Amedola coach indoors; it is against the rules for the coach page to coach Morgan lacrosse in the winter.
Alex Amendola is a 2020 graduate of Morgan and also played lacrosse at Nichols College. Amendola is now in the process of being an assistant coach for Morgan lacrosse. Amendola wants the best for our team and says he’s excited to be back with Morgan. Amendola loves the energy and can’t wait to coach the rest of the indoor games. Coach Page also said he wanted to find a couple more assistant coaches to join the team.
While the process continues of looking for assistant coaches continues the Morgan boys have a packed winter schedule. They will continue to play indoor lacrosse at Wide World Sports in Montville every Sunday until March. While this is going on the boys will schedule times for the weight room at Morgan which will be determined.
