Coming from Eliot to Morgan can be a difficult change for some freshmen. Ivy Wise, an organization that helps students before college, said, “Often times the student body is larger, and you’re a new fish in a much larger pond. For others the surroundings might be the same, but the academics are challenging, and the expectations are much higher.” Middle school to high school is no easy change, but the class of 2028 have completed their first quarter of the next four years of their lives. 3 of the 109 students in this year’s freshmen class shared their experience with the PawPrint about how high school is so far and what they have done to make this year great.

She said, “the inclusivity” of STEP helped her feel confident and comfortable coming into the new school. At Morgan, Dani shared, “I got involved in REACT, and it has been great so far. I also joined the field hockey team, which has been great.” Through the team, she has made amazing friends and bonds with the upperclassmen that will help her through the rest of the year. Dani found that getting to know the upperclassmen has made her year better and more comfortable.
Luella Theriault advice for the rest of the year is to get involved. She has loved the spirit days at Morgan and is very excited for future ones. Luella shared how the school is very spirited, and she really likes that. Being a member of Spirit Squad has also been very fun for her, and she is thrilled to continue it for the rest of the year. Luella found that getting involved with clubs and in the school has helped her make friends and have something to do during the year.
Freshman, Peyton Vece thinks that doing sports is really beneficial to having a good freshmen year. Peyton shared how she has gotten involved in Spirit Squad, Student Government, and Volleyball. She said, “they are all so fun to be a part of.” Peyton believes that “volleyball has definitely helped me get closer to older girls in the school.” She has really enjoyed having a team to be close with and have by her side. Peyton found that when she became friends with the older girls on the team, she felt more comfortable and had people she can go to when she needs it.
These students have found that being involved, joining teams, and getting to know upperclassmen is important to enjoy freshman year. For the quarters to come, the freshmen class will continue to learn and becoming apart of the Morgan family.
