On Sunday, December 3rd, Clinton is hosting the annual Christmas in Clinton. “A magical experience for the people to do some early Christmas shopping and to bring in the Christmas spirit for the month of December,” said peer advocate of REACT and Interact member, senior Riley Schmidt. Interact and REACT are the two main clubs bringing Christmas in Clinton to life.
From 1-4 PM, Christmas spirit will flood Route 1 in Clinton. Luminaires will be lit up and down the road when it gets dark and snowflakes on every light post will start to get brighter and brighter. Christmas decorations, baked goods, and holiday excitement will fill the sidewalks.
Inside, the town hall small businesses will host their own pop-up shops. Patrons can buy unique Christmas gifts for their friends and family. Behind the town hall and on the Pierson Green, people can warm up with some rich hot chocolate. Food is also served all around town, from the Italian Food Store in town, to pizza served on the Pierson Green. Small business restaurants from town will all have food trucks and stands with food for purchase.
For the younger kids, REACT is planning an Elf on the Shelf hunt along the road, and crafts for kids. At the Town Hall Annex, children can do arts and crafts, get their face painted, make letters to Santa, and visitors can collect a map with hints of where to find the elves. Plus, in Santa’s Workshop right in front of the fire station, Mrs. Clause and her Elves will greet the little ones. Interact and REACT Member, junior Jason Mansfield said,“We are all very excited for Mrs. Clause to make a trip down from the North Pole to help spread our Christmas Joy!”
REACT member, junior Kasey Allin said, “I am so excited to see the community come together for a day of jolliness and holiday spirit.”
REACT member, junior Aleia Aleman exclaimed, “it is a great time to spend with loved ones and family, to cherish the little moments during the holiday season.”
Interact club will be hosting a bake sale during Christmas in Clinton. Students in the club are making and providing baked goods to fundraise for their club. Interact member senior Sara Stack said the bake sale, “was a great way to raise money last year, and a great way to provide a snack for those on their way around town.”
Senior Sean Davis shared the same feeling, “Christmas in Clinton is a great opportunity for the town to get together, especially for the Interact members to showcase the service they complete throughout the school year.”
At the end of the event, there will be a Christmas Tree lighting in front of the Town Hall, to excite everyone for the upcoming Christmas season.
Please dress up with your favorite Santa hat and bring your Christmas spirit this Sunday from 1-4 pm!
