Jorge Melendez- Building Sub

Jorge+Melendez-+Building+Sub

The Morgan School staff gained a new face this year for a new position: building substitute Jorge Melendez.

Mr. Melendez’s role as the new building substitute consists of filling in for any staff member who may need coverage whether it is for a whole day or just one block period. The building substitute position was created last year but the right fit for the job was never found before the school closed in March due to COVID-19. The building substitute position gives consistency to the students by having someone cover their classes that is familiar to them and the school. The building sub can get to know students more which is what makes Morgan a family.

Mr. Melendez previously worked in Meriden at an elementary school as a long term substitute. Mr. Melendez graduated from Central Connecticut State University in May of 2019 with a degree in Art Education. He is certified to teach art to all grade levels. Mr. Melendez’s favorite part about his job is that since he substitutes for multiple teachers, he gets to meet and know so many students and members of the Morgan staff. Mr. Melendez is happy to be part of the Morgan School community.
