Congratulations to The Morgan School Class of 2013 Valedictorian and Salutatorian: Emilie Wilk and Isabella Ragonese.
Valedictorian, Emilie Wilk, is known throughout the school as a diligent worker and a respectful and responsible student. When teacher Paul Serenbetz was asked about her, he said, “She is an awesome writer. Emilie expresses ideas very eloquently and persuasively.” AP US History teacher Diana Rizzo said, “Emilie is a bright light in class, not only intellectually, but also with her personality.” Emilie is a member of Morgan React, Amnesty International, Girls Scouts, The Gay and Straight Alliance, The Honors Program, Fantastic Friends, and she is the editor of The Husky Herald. Her junior year she was inducted into The National Honors Society. As a senior, Emilie is still a part of NHS, and she has been elected as the secretary. Guidance counselor, Janice O’Brien, boasted about Emilie winning the Harvard Book Award last year. She also said, “she has a love of learning. Emily has risen to every academic challenge and has a desire to make the world a better place.” Emilie will be attending Scripps college later in the fall.
Just as involved as Emilie is the salutatorian, Isabella Ragonese. She is a member of The Uganda Club, The Husky Herald, National Honors Society, and Spanish National Honors Society. Along with academics, Isabella has been a member of The Morgan Girls Lacrosse team and has been selected as captain this year. Isabella will be attending Skidmore College in the fall. We asked Alan Samet, a mathematics teacher at The Morgan School, what he had to say about Emilie and Isabella as people and as students. He said, “They are two hardworking kids with great integrity and great character. They are both very deserving of the number one and two spots in their class.”
