Art teacher Jessica Leiss has been teaching at the Morgan School for three years now. Previously she was part-time at the Morgan School and Pierson. With the recent closing of Pierson, she now teaches full-time at Morgan.
Mrs. Leiss went to Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and a Masters Degree in Special Education. She originally went to Albertus Magnus in New Haven, Connecticut to earn a degree in art therapy, but she changed her major to art education and transferred to Southern Connecticut
Prior to becoming a full-time teacher here at Morgan, Mrs. Leiss also worked at Pierson for 4 years. Mrs. Leiss loved teaching at Pierson and is very upset about the recent closing of the school.
A lot of students are delighted to hear that Mrs. Leiss is now going to teach here at the Morgan School, full-time. ” I think it’s great. She was a great teacher last year, I had her for advanced drawing and painting. She really lets you do your own thing, but if you need any guidance, she’s there,” states Senior Kaitlyn Tunney.
The students who had her in the past and the present like how she teaches. “She shows us on the board and the slideshow what we are doing in class that day, and she walks around the classroom to make sure that we all know what we are doing individually, and it’s really helpful because if I have any questions I know she will be around to ask, ” says Senior Alyssa Hackley.
Currently, her Intro To Art classes are working on their value paintings.
