A 45-45-90 triangle is an isosceles triangle, and therefore you can use the Pythagorean formula.
My math teacher, Alan Samet, believes that the answer to the question about the Pythagorean Theorem is wrong. His reasoning is that a 45 45 90 right triangle is also an isosceles triangle, so the Pythagorean Theorem is true. However, the question was, “Can you use the Pythagorean Theorem on isosceles triangles?” implying that it can be applied to all isosceles triangles, if not multiple isosceles triangles. Since only one isosceles triangle is also a right triangle, and the wording of the question implies multiple isosceles triangles, the answer “no” is still correct.
