This weekend in Vermont was not the most ideal weekend for skiers and snowboarders to be on the mountains. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue, but the only problem was the wind blowing all the snow off the mountain. The skiing got icier as the day went on due to the brutal wind that did not cease. This past week they have not received that much snow and are relying on this week for there to be snow for next weekend.
As of right now, Okemo has a base depth of 28″ and 0″ of recent snowfall cover. Weekday skiing is looking great for the mountain because they are supposed to receive 8 inches on Tuesday and 6 inches on Wednesday, so I would recommend trying to get out there as quick as possible. Hopefully, the good skiing weather holds out and that snow stays there for the weekend. At the moment, they have 100 out of the 120 trails open at Okemo and should open some, if not all, the trails for the public to ski on.
Some of my favorite mountains to ski on in Vermont are, Okemo, which is a more expensive mountain to ski on, so try to buy lift tickets online at least a week in advance. Mad River Glen, a mountain for skilled skiers that are willing to take on a challenge weaving in and out of the trees. I would recommend skiing here on a day right after a huge snow storm to get the best experience at this primal mountain. Some hotspots for big mountain skiing up North in Vermont are places like Killington, Jay Peak, and Stowe Mountain. Those are a few of many mountains that are ready to be ski on in the state of Vermont.
