Morgan Basketball 2018

Written by Liam Whelan|

The Morgan Huskies came into the basketball season with a lot of hype around the team. Many students were interested to see how the team would do after former coach Ken Beaman did not return after a disappointing last season. The captains for the Huskies are Seniors- Chris Nuzzo, AJ Fritz, and Garret Johnson.

After 10 games the Morgan Huskies are off to a very exciting start at 7-3, with including wins against Coginchaug, Portland, East Hampton, Branford, and Hale-Ray. This success can be attributed to new head coach Frank Rossi. Mr. Rossi was hired after coaching at Madison. He has worked at Morgan in the technology department for years. Mr. Rossi said, “I love being in the building and being in touch with the players throughout the day and being able to maintain those relationships.” After several losing seasons in a row, Mr. Rossi and the players came into the season and “wanted to change the culture of Morgan Basketball.” So far the change is evident as Morgan has already exceeded their win total from last year.

The second half of the season will certainly be an exciting one for the Huskies. “I’m very excited for the second half of the season. Right now we are tied for third place and have a lot of winnable games coming up,” Mr. Rossi stated. The Huskies next game is at home on the 17th, they will be facing Westbrook at 7:00. Come out and support!
