Once you meet her you’ll never forget her. Students walking by her class are always greeted by her cheerful and loud- “Hola!” Spanish teacher Laura Luther also known as Señora has been teaching for 24 years: 21 of those years being here at Morgan, and 3 years at a Catholic school in Massachusetts. Her passion for teaching began when her mother, who was a principal, told her that Spanish would be the language of the future. After graduating high school, she attended Saint Alsem College class of 1995. She earned her masters at Rivier College, class of 1998.

Sra Luther was born in Winchester, Massachusetts and grew up in Burlington, MA. She is married to Biology teacher Chris Luther. Since Mr. Luther is from CT, she moved here to be with him. She has two sons who she calls her pride and joy. She loves watching her sons play sports and watching movies with her husband.

Spanish teacher Susan Peterson said that Sra. was the first friend she made when she started teaching here 15 years ago. Mrs. Peterson said, “She is not just a colleague. She is also a friend.” They have been on 4 trips together, Costa Rica once, Spain twice and Texas.

Many students enjoy having her as a teacher. Arianna Riera class of 2020, states that “Mrs. Luther is a really cool teacher. She uses a good strategy of teaching like she lets us talk only in Spanish and with our friends. I like her as a teacher because she is really just excited and makes the class fun. I’ll always remember how loud she is because it helps to wake up in the morning.”

Another student, Natalie Novarro class of 2020, said that “her teaching style is all based on participation and being involved. She loves to have fun with her classes but makes sure we are learning at the same time.” She also stated that ” I will always remember her loud and energetic personality. She asks us at the start of every class if we’re ready to do the mountain of work that she has planned, and we all scream noooo. She then says, ‘I don’t care!’ I will for sure always remember our class ’s inside jokes!”

Mrs. Luther was named teacher of the year of Morgan in 2003 and teacher of the year of Clinton Public Schools for the 2007-2008 school year. She is the founder of the Kindness Club, Student Council adviser, and instructional leader of the World Language department. She loves her students as if they were her own. A word used to describe her would be “Señora” because it describes the language that she loves.

“There is no better job than the one I have,” said Sra. Luther.
