The 2018 Morgan girls soccer team is doing great so far this season. They tied two games this season: their first game against Bethel 0-0, and their third game against East Hampton 1-1. They won their second game against Coginchaug 3-0 and demolished Hale-Ray on their fourth game 7-0. Their next upcoming game is Monday, October 1st in Cromwell, CT. They have not lost a game yet and are creating a great record for this season.
The team has seven incoming freshmen Natalia & Angelina Comiskey, Cailan Steahle, Julia Tanner, Jessica Flanagan, Emilia O´Neil, and Taylor Maher. Taylor may only be a freshman, but she already plays center-mid on varsity. The JV team has been doing great. Coach Sullivan said that they are very talented. They have adjusted to the physical contact of playing at a high school level and are ready to excel. These freshmen can become a very important part of the varsity team next year.
Coach Sullivan believes that they are one of the top teams in the Shoreline League, stating ¨we should be in the hunt in the Shoreline Tournament and in states¨. It’s obvious these girls are very talented and have lots of support. The tiny disadvantage they are at is they are in the ¨m¨ bracket because they have five kids too many. Last year they had one of the best rankings in the state and made it all the way to the quarterfinals.
The senior class consists of Captain Alyssa LeMay, Captain Erin Lindsay, Rebecca Cockley, Joelle Vuilleumier, Chloe Bousquet, Isabella Ranaudo, Kylee Clifton, Rachel Flanagan, Grace Roman, and Madison Emmi. Sullivan has really come to know these kids from coaching them in youth soccer. Captain Senior Erin L also thinks the girls have the potential to go far. they know Sullivan believes in them.
