Dear Evan Hansen is an award-winning Broadway show about a high school senior who is dealing with social anxiety that increases after another student’s death. 50 tickets were donated anonymously to the school, and the Husky Leaders are going to see the show on December 13th. Along with the tickets, all attending students will be receiving a lunch at Carmine’s, a well-known Italian restaurant in New York City.
Students who attend the musical will deliver the kindness bags that were put together with the donations from Halloween to an organization that distributes the bags to the homeless.
The Husky Leaders have opened up the trip to the whole school since they have extra tickets. In order to be chosen for this trip, interested students must complete two essay writing prompts. Students must submit their writing prompts electronically to Library Media Specialist Shannon Robinson by November 17th.
Mrs. Robinson and a group of teachers are going to print the essays with no names and decide which are the most inspiring so that every applicant has an equal chance at being chosen. The winners will be announced before Thanksgiving break.
