Annually in April, there is a national Poem in Your Pocket day held in all fifty states and Canada. This creative holiday originated in 2008 with the Academy of American Poets.
This year, Poem in Your Pocket day falls on Thursday, April 27th. The Morgan Pawprint is holding a raffle the morning of the 27th to celebrate. Students who bring in a written poem from 7:00 am to 7:35 am will receive a raffle ticket. Four PawPrint journalists will stand at both entrances to the school to hand out the tickets.
There are pocket posters throughout the school full of poems. Select a poem. Bring a poem to participate in Poem in your Pocket Day.
Winners of the contest will receive either a Dunkin Donuts gift card, a Morgan t-shirt or both. There will 16 winners.
Here are some links. Find a favorite poem to share or write one of your own:
Winners will be announced by the end of the day Thursday. Thanks for participating in Poem in Your Pocket Day.
