Within the past year alone, Ultimate Frisbee (the official name of which is just “Ultimate”) has become one of the fastest growing collegiate and high school team sports in the world. Today, the game is played in more than 42 countries with over 5 million people in the USA alone. The sport appeals to many people because of its simplicity, the game play, the uncomplicated rules and the minimal equipment required to play. Over the summer, Morgan saw the creation of an Ultimate high school club team. The team has grown from only about six players at the first preseason practices during the summer to over 20 committed players, a number that is growing every week. The team’s success is fueled by its captains and co-captains, namely Jon Chann, Lenny Paul, Riley Cochrane, and Ryan Driscoll. On Sunday October 21st, the captains organized an event in which the Connecticut Constitution, one of the Connecticut professional Ultimate teams, came down to Clinton and held a clinic for the team to teach the players techniques on how to play better. For tickets, news and updates, and the store, check out Connecticut Constitution’s website. To get involved in the Morgan Ultimate Team, talk to any of the captains or co-captains or anyone on the team, or simply show up to the practices, which we usually have posted on our Facebook page. Practice is usually held at Peters Sports Complex (Joel) on the football field on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 or 4-6.

It’s really awesome that you guys got a pro team to run a clinic for you. Wish our school had an Ultimate team.
