Since last season, The Morgan boys Lacrosse team has lost many of its starting players, which means a lot of spots need to be filled. Last year, the boys had a lot of triumphs and upsets. The team went 10-6 last year in the regular season which is a great record, but the team suffered many losses due to a lack of mental toughness.
This year’s young team brings many positives though. Freshman Zach Johnson one of our starting varsity attack men is being put to the test this year. Zach shared what he thought about the team this year and also what it was like to be a freshman starting varsity. He said, ” it’s awesome playing varsity. It’s much quicker. Our team needs to clean up small details, and if we do we will win”.
The team lost a hard game to Old Lyme at home Saturday, April 2, 8-15 which started off being a close game. The Huskies played East Catholic Tuesday, April 5th, and the team was down by 2 at the end of the 3rd quarter, but could not keep grasp of the slight trail they had. Senior captain Antony Choronzy said, “we are working well as a unit, and we are all looking for success, but key components that are hurting us are dumb penalties and lack of communication. We need to support one another and focus on the roles we are given and chose”
With all these tricks up their sleeves and the knowledge of what they need to do, the boys hope to gain momentum heading into the season starting this Friday, April 8, against Old Saybrook. Follow this link here of the boys schedule so you will never miss a game!
The Boys won their away game on Friday the 8th, 14-2
