Mathematics teacher Gregory Garb’s two honors geometry classes were assigned to find how many pennies it would take to fill the circle in the middle of the gym.
Over the course of about 5 days, Period D and Period F worked on finding out how many pennies it would take to fill this circle with an 11ft diameter.
At the end of the 5 days, on November 4, 2015, both classes went down to the gym to fill the circle with pennies to determine how many pennies it would take.
The total number was 29, 520!
