On the night of October 22, the Morgan Field Hockey team held its senior night at Indian River Sports Complex. The team was scheduled to have its ceremony at 6:30 before the actual game at 7:00. There were posters on the rails and on the bleachers with the seniors names on them:  ¨Go Lauren!” and ¨You got this Meg!” to boost their confidence.

The juniors, sophomore, and freshmen made two columns on the side of the seniors. When each seniors name was called, the senior would run through the center of the columns with a rose in their hand to give to their parents. Families met the seniors half way to greet them and wish them  good luck before the game.

At 7:00 the team played Somers High School. The girls went into the game with smiles on their faces knowing that this day had finally come. Somers had only won one game and so had Morgan. Only after the first three minutes of the game, Morgan had scored their first goal by Lauren Vigorito on a corner hit. From the student section, there was lots of commentary and plenty of cheering for Morgan. At half time the score remained 1-0. During the second half the score changed to 2-0 when Sam Mena and Jordan McMillan tipped the ball in off of Lauren’s drive. The game ended with a score of 2-0, Morgan Field Hockey had won their game on their senior night.

Right when the buzzer went off, the whole team sprinted out screaming in elation. Field Hockey had only won one other game in the season, which was against Fitch.

Senior on the team Isabella Pitarra said, ¨We went out with a bang!¨ Junior on the team Sofia Sicignano explained, “I couldn’t be any prouder of my team. We went out with a bang and competed fiercely. To me, this team is more than a group of people who like the same sport. We´re a family.¨
