The school year is quickly coming to an end and final exams are approaching fast. This year final exams will begin on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Below is the final exam schedule:
For many students, exam week can be the most stressful time of the school year. Exams are only a few weeks away, but students should start organizing, preparing, and studying now. There are various ways in which students can prepare to walk into the exams confident and ready to take the test. Listed below are study tips from Teen Vogue Magazine.
- Understand your goals
- Prioritize the tests that matter the most
- Clarify the content and format of your exams
- Aim to begin studying at least one month in advance
- Learn how you study best
- Take snack breaks
- Know when to stop studying
- Get a good night’s sleep
- Naturally energize yourself the morning of the test
- Relax
Final exams are worth ten percent of the final grade in a year long course and 20% fo the final grade in a semester course, so students need to take the exams seriously. Time management, creating a study guide, studying with friends, and relaxing will hopefully lead to a good grade. If stress is a problem, read Got STRESS?, written by Amanda Garbinski, for some great tips on how to get back to a stress-free study mode.
This year, Seniors and Juniors can benefit from exemptions. For Seniors, as stated in the Morgan Student Handbook, “At the discretion of the teacher, seniors may be excused from an examination if: At the end of the second semester (June), the senior has an average for that semester of 90 or better in the course.” Also, Juniors earned the privilege of exemption from the final exams by completing both Junior Portfolio and SBAC Testing with a 95% participation. Leah Campano’s article, 95% Participation = Junior Privileges, goes into more detail on the Junior privileges.
Good luck to all Morgan students taking final exams. Keep calm and study on!

I loved the way this article was set up with the pictures and quick notes. And I’ll be sure to follow some of the advice, since I am a nervous test taker

This is really good advice, and I like how you included a number of study tips students can benefit from. Final exams can get pretty stressful so it’s nice that some upperclassmen offered their tips!

Great advice and tips for the students taking final exams. I am hoping I don’t have to take any but we will see. I liked how you incorporated what other students do to prepare themselves for their exams.

This is good advice for the underclassmen, especially because they have yet to take their final exams which sometimes cover the entire year of content. Good luck to all students on exams, and don’t take advice to not study at all!
