The upcoming rapper Daniel Hernandez, (popularly referred to as 6ix9ine) has been taken into federal custody for racketeering charges. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for January 22, 2019, at 2 p.m. The trial is set for Wednesday, September 4, 2019. He allegedly participated in the July shooting of a bystander in Brooklyn and the gunpoint robbery of his gang’s rivals last spring. According to prosecutors, the 22-year-old could face life in prison if convicted of the chargers. 

Many people are confused about what exactly happened to the rapper as most don’t even know what racketeering is. The definition of racketeering is organized criminal activity, usually in which the criminal act is a form of business or a means to earn illegal money regularly or briefly but repeatedly.

6ix9ine has produced a number of popular songs and has made a name for himself with his sense of style. He has rainbow colored hair and a grill where each tooth is a different color. There have been many different posts on social media about the situation. People have stated that 6ix9ine was released from federal prison, but he was just moved to another facility,. 6ix9ine was also denied bail after offering his entire bank balance of $1.7 million. Takashi has also gotten into some trouble while behind bars. It was reported that other inmates were angry because the rapper was receiving special treatment. A dorm was cleared out for him, and he was in a section where gang members (which he was) were not allowed. 

Many people are rooting for him to get out of prison so he can continue to produce music. Takashi released his latest album “Dummy Boy” on Tuesday, November 27th. Many people at Morgan posted about it on social media because they enjoy the music.

Freshman Drew Nye and Senior Jake Mchenry-Kron both said that they enjoy his music because of how hype it is and the amount of energy the music possesses. Both students share a similar interest in 6ix9ines hit song TikTok.

Both students stated that they were disappointed in him because of his arrest, but they said he deserved the prison sentence for the crimes he committed. Junior Emma Iovene said that she enjoys listening to his music before games because it gets her hyped up. Her favorite song is Billy, but she was unaware that Takashi was arrested. Sophomore Nori Lopez said she knew nothing about his arrest. Nori said that she doesn’t like his lyrics, but the instrumental aspect of it is good. Her favorite song is FEFE.
