Freshmen officers are here! Unlike the freshmen failures last year, our new freshmen are ready to step up and take charge. They plan to stay focused on their ideas throughout the entire year. The freshmen officers are taking charge and are not slowing down, even after they lost their secretary Adam Nguyen.

Freshman President Annalyse Olcott and Freshman Vice President Gavin Carlisle said they helped plan many events in Morgan. Some events they help planned were Homecoming, Dodge for a Difference, and all spirit weeks. Even though they help with a lot of events for all grades, they also make sure they have time to plan events for just the freshman class.

The freshmen plan fundraisers including bake sales and the candygram sales. The candy gram fundraiser was held during lunch waves, where they sold candy canes for $1 each. Purchasers of the candy canes wrote a little note and sent them to a person of their choosing.

Annalyse and Gavin aren’t the only ones working hard. Their public relations officer James Siciliano is involved in these events. You may be asking, “What does a public relations officer even do?”  James informs the freshmen class of important upcoming events. If you ever want to know if anything important is coming up, then go ask your Public Relations officer.

English teacher Amanda Fairbanks has also been hard at work helping out the freshmen with fundraising, talking to representatives for prom and also budgeting so we don’t lose any money beforehand. Annalyse said Ms. Fairbanks is such a good help and is “really good at planning events.” Ms. Fairbanks has always wanted to be an advisor for a class. This year she decided to fulfill one of her goals in life by becoming the freshman class advisor.

According to Ms. Fairbanks, the freshman class has made $341 with two fundraising events beating the freshmen last year by $141. Our freshmen made $204 with the candy grams and $137 from the bake sale. As mentioned before, they are still planning more fundraisers to raise even more money. One idea they have is planning a raffle. With their raffle idea, they are hoping to raise at least $1,000 for their class by the end of the year.

The freshmen representatives meet most Friday mornings with Ms. Fairbanks. If you have any ideas, you can email Annalyse or Ms. Fairbanks.
