Behind the Morgan School’s Technology

Written by Anthony Janiszcak|

If you’ve taken a technology class at The Morgan School, you know Technology Teacher Ted Enoch. He is a great teacher to all. His passion for technology started as far back as high school. “My Senior year  I had taken graphics design, and my teacher inspired me to be what I am today” says Mr. Enoch.IMG_0894

After high school, Mr. Enoch enrolled in the military as a solider training officer, later going into the army reserve. His passion for teaching encouraged him to become a sixth, seventh, and eighth grade general subject teacher at a school overseas in Germany for about two years. Shortly after he became The Morgan Schools’ Technology teacher. Today, Mr. Enoch has been teaching for 30 years and loves every second of it. “ What I enjoy most about teaching technology is watching and hearing the students learn something they have never learned before”.

IMG_0891 (1)Teaching in this school for 28 years, Mr. Enoch has watched the technology evolve inside year by year. “The schools network was installed in the 90’s. Though they upgraded it throughout the years, it’s still very much out-dated,” says Mr. Enoch.  With the new school on its way, Mr. Enoch tells me that the ethernet speed  for the wireless connection in the new school is 10 GB compared to the 1 GB we are running on now. What does that mean exactly? This is saying that our wireless connection in the new school will run 10 times faster than the wireless connection in our school now.

In a brief conversation with Technology teacher Allison Corbett here at Morgan, she expresses how we are “very fortunate to have top industry computers and  software in our classrooms”. She also explained to me that for a small school, we are lucky to have the variety of technology accessible to us.  With the new school almost finished, Ms. Corbett only can hope that the network in the new school is better than it is now.

Even though Mr. Enoch is sad to see the old Morgan go, he is happy to be getting a new working space. He will  be getting newer computers for his classroom and a photo studio as well. When I asked if there would be a dark room in the new school he replied, “Sadly no, but I’m happy with what I have and what I’m getting”.

With everyone being excited for the new school, we hope that Mr. Enoch is as well.
