Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

Since the beginning of time, the people who have lived in Range, an alternate world, have been reincarnated. The people are not reincarnated into animals or trees, but they can simply be reincarnated into male or female. 2,000 people have been reincarnated since the beginning of time, every person is responsible for contributing something to society, such as: music, literature, and their version of cell phones. Over time scientists have learned how to calculate the date that a person would be reincarnated. On the night when Cienna is supposed to be reincarnated, someone new is born: Ana, a new soul. In the history of Range this has never happened, and the people do not know how to react. The government banishes Ana and her mother to the woods. Her mother must raise her and to her mother all Ana is a no soul. When Ana turns 18, she decides to leave home and travel to the city of Heart to find her purpose. With the help of her dashing new friend, Sam, Ana hopes to find her purpose in the world. But when the people fear her and dragons and the dangerous sylph return, what does the birth of Ana signify? Incarnate is honestly one of my favorite books of all time and definitely worth the read.

The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

Kate is a senior in high school when her mother decides to move from New York City to the small town of Eden. Eden is where Kate’s mother grew up, and Kate has no choice but to go to Eden. Kate would do anything for her mother for Kate’s mother is dying, and her last wish is to move back to the town where she was raised. Kate is not expecting anything to come out of her move to Eden when one night after a party Kate is at the mercy of Henry who claims to be the greek god Hades. Henry agrees to keep Kate’s mother alive if Kate will try to pass seven tests. Kate thinks that he is insane until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Kate now thinks that saving her mother is possible if she can pass the tests. If she succeeds, Kate will become Henry’s bride and a goddess. The catch: seven girls have gone before Kate; they have all died. Does Kate have what it takes to save her mother, Henry, and to become a goddess while trying to stay alive?

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

Are you a fan of Twilight? Well I’m not here to tell you that Twilight is not a great series, but I am here to tell you that there is a better series out there that does not get as much notoriety. It is the Shiver Trilogy.

Since childhood, Grace has watched the wolves that stay outside of her house near the woods. They fascinate her which is surprising because when she was 8, Grace was attacked by the wolves. And even more surprising? The fact that Grace survived and and is “normal” to this day. One wolf watches Grace more than the rest. Night after night his yellow eyes haunt her, but she feels unafraid.

Sam has a dual life: his human life which he lives in the summer when it is too hot for his fur covered body. The other life is what makes up the majority of his year: his life as a wolf. In the winter, he watches a courageous girl while sitting outside of her house with his pack. He never dreamed she would walk into his life when he was able to communicate with her.

Grace meets a boy with yellow eyes that she says is her wolf. She feels certain. With winter fast approaching can Sam hope to stay himself as a human and to be with Grace or will he lose both forever?
